Andrew Payne

Dr. Andrew Payne is a scientist and engineer with a decade of experience inventing and building technologies for precisely mapping biological systems in genomics and neuroscience. As founder and CEO at E11 Bio, he is currently leading a moonshot research program to develop breakthrough technology for precisely mapping brain circuits at the scale of mammalian brains. Previously at MIT, Andrew invented and developed technologies unifying DNA sequencing and microscopic imaging, including methods for spatially precise genome sequencing within intact cells and embryos (Payne et al, Science 2021). Andrew maintains an active interest in metascience, including the design and implementation of new organizational models for practicing science, such as Focused Research Organizations. Andrew received his PhD from MIT, and received his BASc in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto.
