E11 Bio was launched in 2022 as one of the first Focused Research Organizations (FROs), a novel form of non-profit startup for science. FROs fill a gap in the research and development ecosystem by:

• coordinating large-scale engineering efforts and team science

• creating public goods that can not be immediately monetized by industry

• focusing on transformative research through building innovative new technologies.
